Ashby Computers has become a trusted partner for businesses navigating the complexities of modern technology. For nearly four decades, the company has offered tailored IT solutions, acting as an outsourced IT department for organisations across Northamptonshire and beyond.
Here we talk to Andy Hickman, Technical Manager, about empowering both their own and their clients businesses with the tools to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world.
A legacy of reinvention
Founded in 1987 as a cabling business, we have always embraced change. The company transitioned into selling PCs in the 1990s when Ethernet revolutionized cabling standards. By the 2000s, we expanded into server hosting, and today, we are focused on Cloud solutions and Microsoft 365 integration. This ability to adapt has been the backbone of our success, ensuring we remain at the forefront of our industry.
The ideal base for growth
In search of more space to accommodate our expanding operations, we moved from Sywell Aerodrome to Brackmills Industrial Estate six years ago - a decision that proved to be transformative for us. Not only do we serve many businesses in the area we but also manage the IT infrastructure for the Brackmills Business Improvement District (BID) office, further embedding ourselves into the community.
Preparing businesses for the future
As the end of life for Windows 10 approaches in October 2025, we know it is vital that businesses, large and small, embrace modern solutions like Microsoft 365, Copilot, and AI-driven tools to stay competitive. We want to proactively help our clients prepare for the transition and understand how best to use the new tools at their disposal.
Expanding horizons
Looking ahead, we have ambitious plans to grow our client base, aiming for 400 clients by 2026 – growth of nearly 20%. This will also include the need to recruit more local, talented people.
We are particularly keen to expand our work with the not-for-profit and charity sector, as we believe that embracing the latest technology will enable organisations in this vital sector to cost effectively maximise their impact.
We are proud to be a trusted IT partner for businesses across the region and we are dedicated to driving success for clients, today and in the future.
To this end we would like to extend the offer of a free network audit to any of our neighbours on the Brackmills estate. If you would like to take advantage of our expertise, with a view to understanding how to future proof your IT infrastructure, please email me: andy@ashbycomputers.co.uk
