Business of Month - Meet ACS Staffing Solutions

ACS Staffing Solutions

Award-winning recruitment agency ACS Staffing Solutions, led by husband-and-wife duo Hellie and Chris Wright, moved from their old home on Wellingborough Road in Northampton and into their new abode on Brackmills Industrial Estate back in 2023. Their team was growing so they needed more space to expand, provide collaborative working space, and, of course, give more opportunity to service their candidates and clients.

ACS is a Midlands-based recruitment agency, providing UK-wide staffing solutions. They support and guide organisations of all sizes and backgrounds in finding the best talent across both the temporary and permanent workforces. The main core focus of the business is supporting clients within logistics, manufacturing, engineering, and office support services.

Here we talk to Co-Owner and Managing Director, Chris, and Marketing Manager, Rebecca Shears, about the business, life on the estate, and why their love of doughnuts! …

Making the move

Chris: We work with many logistics’ businesses, so Brackmills was the obvious choice for us, surrounded by many local, national, and global businesses. The need to have a high-street location isn't as in demand as it might have been previously, and with the investment we have made in the recruitment tech stack, we place people all over the UK.

Rebecca: And there is more to the estate than people might think. It is not just lorries, sheds, and roundabouts. Over 18,000 people come to work here every day on Brackmills, and with lots of green spaces, cycle paths, and exercise groups, it’s a nice place to be - the team loves it.

Chris: We also like to get the local businesses involved as much as we can. We hold roundtable events where we invite local industry leaders and experts onto a panel and discuss hot topics. We filmed our logistics round table back in March 2024 and have more recently filmed our HR round table in June 2024, which was hosted on LinkedIn Live in July 2024.

People are our passion

Chris: My wife and ACS co-owner, Hellie, and I have been helping businesses recruit and retain the right people for over a decade. We are passionate about diversity and inclusivity, and we believe that everyone who wants it should have access to work.

In addition to our traditional recruitment services, we work with other organisations to support and guide diversity groups with their work-searching activities. We love partnering with clients to support their missions with diversity and inclusion.

We are equally passionate about our own people too. We always have something fun and social going on, whether it’s a Bring Your Dog to Work Day or arranging a charity hike up Snowdon, we aim to make ACS a great place to work.

Rebecca: I think a great example of this is the charity songs we have created in memory of our much-loved colleague, Ela, who very sadly passed away from cancer in January 2023 at the age of 26. Ela loved being a part of the fun, and we know she would have loved getting involved in these videos, making complete fools of ourselves! In Christmas 2023, we recreated ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’ by Band Aid, and in June 2024, we did ‘Vindaloo’, just in time for the Euros. We would love any donations and support. Find out more HERE.

And of course, we like to spread a little joy for our clients too. In May 2024, to celebrate National Doughnut Day, we delivered over 1,000 of these tasty treats and hand-delivered them to clients across the region, from Kettering to Corby, Milton Keynes to Bedford. After all, who doesn’t love a doughnut, right?

If you would like to meet the team at ACS in their Brackmills offices, feel free to contact Chris or Rebecca.
