Here, we chat to Howard Wilson, UK Operations Manager, and voluntary Chair of Brackmills Business Improvement District (BID) …
“We, Startech.com, chose Northampton and specifically Brackmills as our European Distribution Centre because of its unrivalled location. We are central, so the company has excellent connectivity and transport infrastructure.
There are many things the BID provides to help all businesses out. A primary one has got to be security. The BID has invested heavily in CCTV and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras which help keep the estate secure.
The BID also cares for the environment year-round. In winter, we invest in gritting to keep the roads safe and to enable businesses to keep operating. In the summer months we cut back the verges, make our footpaths and cycle ways accessible, and generally focus on making Brackmills a great estate to work on.
Exercising during the day is important to our company, and on Brackmills we have two pocket parks which provide plenty of space for exercise and fresh air, which is welcome in an industrial environment like this.”
