QHSE Manager at

The QHSE Manager will be responsible for leading all aspects of developing, implementing, maintaining and managing the overall environmental, quality, health and safety activities to agreed QHSE and other operating standards across the company with the primary objective of preventing loss and liability.

You’ll gain an understanding of other areas and functions with the objective of implementing companywide administrative and quality improvements.

The QHSE Manager will ensure that all activities are controlled using suitable management systems that comply with regulatory requirements in particular compliance to the ISO 9001:2015 and BRC standards.
 

Key Responsibilities:
• Produce company reports identifying KPI’s on various elements of the QHSE function
• Ensure active management of safety management systems,
• Compile near miss investigations leading a GAP analysis,
• Manage internal and external audits
• Ensure that the various risk and site assessments/inspections are completed via the General Manager
• Investigate, or where appropriate, assist others to investigate the circumstances and causes of accidents, near misses and non-conformances and takes necessary steps to prevent a recurrence
• Work within a small team and being part of the management team have ownership of the EHS agenda, covering EHS tasks when required. In addition you will work cross functionally to promote best practice with a continuous improvement ethos, working with other sites and service partners to ensure best practice and excellence is achieved.
• Drive quality via Company statistics and management engagement
• Develop and mentor your team
• In collaboration with management develop and understanding of the freight profile and key risks associated
• Support to operations and sales on queries re existing freight profile and toward and future developments
• Develop an understanding of the administrative dynamics of the various departments toward achievement of a near zero error philosophy
• Manage UK Goods in Transit Insurance



Key Skills:

Essential Experience:
• Knowledge and/or implemented safety programs
• Demonstrated skills in the execution of improvement projects in QHSE or logistics environment
• Excellent conflict resolution skills, diplomacy and tact.
• Trained Auditor by an Accredited Company
• Auditing experience to ISO9001 Standards
• Auditing experience to BRC Standards
• HACCP Awareness
• H&S and Risk Assessment Awareness

Essential Skills:
• Minimum of 3 years managing a team 
• Ability to lead by example
• Ability to work under pressure
• Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to solve problems and resolve issues
• Ability to work independently and on own initiative

• Skilled in adapting their style and language to suit the customer, department or level that they are dealing with
• IT literate with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Ability to understand non EQHS functions toward implementing business processes
